As of April 1st the dotCal platform is now powered by a DaviCal Server platform written by our dotCal CTO Andrew McMillan.
Everything is quicker and slicker because our engine is lightning fast. Expect to see a lot of changes in the coming months based upon this key functional platform.
DAViCal CalDAV Server is written by Andrew McMillan to create a straightforward CalDAV server for shared groupware calendaring. The project is written in PHP and uses a PostgreSQL database for backend storage.
DAViCal is a server for calendar sharing. It is an implementation of the CalDAV protocol which is designed for storing calendaring resources (in iCalendar format) on a remote shared server. An increasing number of calendar clients support the maintenance of shared remote calendars through CalDAV including Mozilla Calendar (Sunbird/Lightning), Evolution, Mulberry, Chandler, and various other closed-source products such as Apple's iCal and iPhone. DAViCal CalDAV Server was conceived and written by Andrew McMillan and has been under development since 2005.
